 Driving license permit application

Bring all required documents to the secretary in person

Please make sure you bring the following:

  • 2 passport photos
  • A valid passport or Finnish ID card for identification
  • 39 € in cash (exact amount) for the driving license application fee

The application will be submitted on your behalf, so you do not need to visit Ajovarma yourself.



Additional information

  • If you do not meet the health requirements for a driving license, you must provide a doctor’s certificate.
  • If you already have a valid passport or ID card and have given your e-signature at a police station, you can submit your application online instead.

Theory test

Booking your theory test

Once you have completed all your theory lessons and your driving license application has been approved, you can book your theory test.

  • Book online through Ajovarma’s website or by phone
  • If you need help with booking, we are happy to assist you
  • If you are under 18, you can book the test 1 month before your 18th birthday
  • Remember to submit your driving license permit application early

At Ajovarma, you will need a certificate for the course “Basics of the Traffic”. You will receive this from the secretary after your first course payment. We can also send the certificate electronically, so you do not need a paper version.



What to bring to the theory test

  • ID (passport or Finnish ID card)
  • Exam fee: 46 € (cash or card)



After the test

  • Once you pass the theory test, inform your teacher or secretary
  • The theory test is valid for 1 year – during this time, you must also pass the driving test



Validity periods

  • Driving license permit: valid for 2–3 years


Driving lessons and driving test

Driving lessons

You can start your driving lessons once you have paid at least 300 €. Each lesson lasts 50 minutes and includes feedback time. Driving lessons are usually booked directly with your assigned teacher.



Cancellations and missed lessons

  • Cancellations must be made directly with your teacher
  • Cancel at least one working day in advance before 12:00
  • Monday lessons must be cancelled by Friday before 12:00
  • Missed or late-cancelled lessons will be charged according to our price list (80 €)
  • If you are unsure about your lesson time, check your Webauto account or contact us
  • In case of illness, be prepared to provide a doctor’s certificate



Driving test (practical exam)

  • Use of the school car for your first driving test is free of charge
  • After the first attempt, the car rental fee is 120 € per test

Simulator drives

The simulator is located at our office at Eerikinkatu 4, Turku city center. You can book a simulator session directly with your teacher or the secretary.

If you are not comfortable with Finnish, English, or Swedish, we recommend bringing a translator (for example, a friend) with you.
